This is the story of William Jefferson (the dog) in the first few months with his adopted family.  He is known as "Willie", but please do not call him "Slick Willie".

Willie was a cute little Golden Retriever puppy when first brought home.

He played with his favorite toys

stayed close to his "master",

and, of course, he slept (sometimes in awkward positions).

Willy was always wary for signs of disrespect.

He was maturing into a fine young dog.

Then one day, on the celebration of the patron saint of animals, St. Francis of Assisi, his family took Willie to be "blessed".

Willie seemed perfectly normal in the immediate aftermath of the blessing, playing with his friend, Pugsley Heinen.

But one day later Willie embarked on a spree of muddy mayhem.

Willie is on the road to recovery now, has damaged only one rug in the past few weeks, and has pledged to be on his best behavior as he serves as his master's "walking-mate" this Fall.
